Favorite room in your house and why: In my house, my living room is my favorite room. I don't have a huge collection
of art but the art that is most precious to me is in this room as well as sentimental
pieces of furniture. My living room also gets a lot of soft light throughout the
day, which makes the room very cozy.
Favorite piece of furniture: I have a small bookcase that my ggrandfather made for my grandmother. It is very
simple but very well done. It was in my grandparents’ house for more years than
I can remember, holding pictures of the family. Now it holds my art and design
books.
Favorite pastime: My favorite pastime is shopping. I love to go shopping for clothes or for my
home. It is a way to spend time with my friends or with my mom.
Book currently on your nightstand: I am reading Giorgio Vasari's Lives of the Artists. Vasari was a father of art history. The book recounts the lives of the artists
most popular during the Renaissance. He was a friend of many of the artists in
the high Renaissance, which makes the book interesting because he includes his
personal stories.
Favorite design style and why: It is hard to narrow down my favorite design style. Personally, I probably lean
to a more metropolitan style, but I like to have older furniture or accessories
around. I think they unexpectedly help to add character to a space.
If you didn't work in interior design: I would teach art history at the college level. When I was getting my degree
in art history, my professors were always so excited to talk about art. I think
it would be nice to have the ability to inspire with that excitement people who
may still be confused about their future
Favorite interior design books and/or magazines: Veranda because it is consistently well done.
Favorite room to design: My favorite room really depends on the home I am working in. Overall, the bedroom
is probably my favorite because it can be your own personal sanctuary to come
to and relax after the long days of everyday life.
