Local Artists Perform in Authentic European Fashion at Postcard from Paris
Plein Air Artists Society showcases talents, engages guests
each week at interiors market and bistro
(Greenville, SC; March 9, 2004): Enhancing its already unique atmosphere, Postcard
from Paris has begun hosting Plein Air Artists Society, a group of noted artists,
each Thursday at its bistro where they perform their craft amid shop guests.
Local artists paint, sketch, and create works of art within Postcard from Paris
throughout the day.
Plein Air is planning a spring show at Postcard from Paris, exhibiting oils,
watercolors, and other media.
“Having these talented artists show their work and promote artistic awareness
within Postcard from Paris has a tremendous European feel to it,” said Linda McDougald,
owner of Postcard from Paris. “It is remarkable to see these artists produce such
amazing works right in front of you.”
Founded seven years ago, Plein Air has an invited membership of 28 artists. Its
purpose is to encourage artistic growth and help local artists develop and promote
their craft. They meet weekly to support each other’s efforts and critique one
another’s work. Using Postcard from Paris as a weekly venue, the artists of Plein
Air find creativity and ideas among the fine antiques and stylish vignettes.
“Postcard from Paris has such an engaging and captivating atmosphere that it
attracted us immediately,” said Barbara Van Gelderen, founder and chairperson
of Plein Air. “We so much enjoy setting up our canvas and using this beautiful
environment as inspiration every week.”
